Development Update 10-25-2021

CFB Marketplace

While we have been relatively quiet on the BinderPOS side, ChannelFireball is making some noise with it’s newly released Marketplace! We really want to hand it to the Marketplace team. They’ve been hammering away for well over the past year and have something really awesome to show for it. If you haven’t already check it out: https://channelfireball.com

If you are already a BinderPOS customer and are located in the US you can can start selling on the CFB Marketplace right away. Reach out to your account managers for info on how to get started. We’ve also built an integration into the CFB Marketplace to make listing your inventory as easy as clicking a few buttons.

eBay

We realize that as awesome as the Marketplace is, it’s not helpful for our many customers outside of the US wanting to move inventory. Luckily CFB Marketplace isn’t the only platform we are integrating with. The eBay integration is now available for those in the UK and Canada. Please reach out to your account managers to begin the setup process.

Advanced Search

You may have noticed a slow down with some of our product search functions over the past few months. This wouldn’t have affected the point of sale search or the native Shopify search feature, but did impact the Products tab in the BinderPOS Portal and the Integrations tab and Advanced Search pages in Shopify.

A large contributing factor to that slowdown has been identified and eliminated as of 10-18-2021. In extreme cases, some queries that were taking up to 40 seconds were reduced to returning in less than a second. Some queries (especially those that involve inventory quantities and sorting) will still take a few seconds to respond, but overall general response times are quicker.

This is just beginning for our search feature. We now have a dedicated team that will be continuing efforts to make additional performance increases such as this one. We will also be leveraging some insight gained by the marketplace team on technologies we can use to add additional features and make things a bit snappier.

Point of Sale Inventory Bug

This has been one of the most troubling bugs we’ve dealt with in a long time. We’ve seen occasional reports of extra inventory being added to items in rapid succession when there have been issues with the cart that held those items. One of the signatures of this bug was ‘added by BinderPOS Point of Sale’ in rapid succession on Shopify’s inventory logs. This bug happens when there is a discrepancy in the POS Cart between the client and the server. The two main causes of this were network communication issues (system outages) and opening the same cart multiple times in different sessions. We’ve changed the way our system deals with these sorts of discrepancies and have now eliminated this bug in all of our test cases.
